# Fill and Deliver a PDF

> Populate a PDF template with run data, then send or upload the finished file.

When you have a PDF template with blank fields, such as an application, a
certificate, or a quote sheet, a workflow can fill it in with real data and then
deliver the finished file. It is a two-part pattern: fill, then deliver.

* [Fill PDF Form](/platform/workflows/node-reference/files-and-documents/fill-pdf-form)
  populates a PDF template's fields and produces a finished file.
* [Send Email](/platform/workflows/node-reference/communication/send-email) delivers the
  file as an attachment. You can also upload it with SFTP or Google Drive
  instead.

## How to build it

### Fill the template

Add a Fill PDF Form step, point it at your template, and map each form field to
the value that belongs in it. The value is usually a reference to an earlier
step, such as an extracted policy number or a contact's name. The step produces
the finished PDF.

### Deliver the finished file

Add a Send Email step and attach the filled PDF, pointing the attachment at the
file the Fill PDF Form step produced. To store it somewhere instead of emailing
it, use an
[SFTP Upload](/platform/workflows/node-reference/integrations/sftp/sftp-upload) or a
[Google Drive Upload File](/platform/workflows/node-reference/integrations/google-drive/google-drive-upload-file)
step.
