When a run hits something your team should know about, such as a new high-value lead or a step that failed, a Slack message is the fastest way to tell them. You can post to a shared channel or send a direct message to one person. ## Nodes involved * Use [Channel Message](/platform/workflows/node-reference/communication/channel-message) to post to a shared channel the whole team sees. * Use [Direct Message](/platform/workflows/node-reference/communication/direct-message) to message one person privately. ## Before you start Both steps need a connected Slack account. Connect it in the Marketplace first; once connected, the step can post on your behalf. ## How to build it ### Pick the destination Add a Channel Message step and choose the channel, or add a Direct Message step and choose the person. ### Write the message Enter the text to send. Point parts of it at earlier steps so the alert carries real detail, for example the lead's name or the reason a step failed. ## Related #### [Channel Message](/platform/workflows/node-reference/communication/channel-message) Post to a shared Slack channel. #### [Direct Message](/platform/workflows/node-reference/communication/direct-message) Message one person in Slack. > Documentation for Gail, the AI platform for financial services.
